Article about this piece on runnersworld.com

I have been very busy coaching and running (mauirunner.com) while balancing an art career. This painting is a combination and reflection of my passion for running and art. Over the last few years I have been painting more and more influential athletes. At the same time I have been getting more involved with athletes and my roots in running.

Paula Radcliffe

Paula Radcliffe is an athlete that I have looked up to for over the last 13 years. In 2002, I got to run with her for about 11 miles at the Chicago Marathon. She ended up running a world record of 2:17.18. That day I had paid for the quick pace with Paula but still finished in a new personal record of 2:27. This experience propelled my running career forward to new heights. Below is a photo of Paula in the 2002 Chicago Marathon with Weldon Johnson of www.letsrun.com pacing her.

After running with Paula in Chicago I got more focused in my racing and training. I got up to 110 miles a week and lowered my personal records to 1:06:38 for the Half Marathon and 2:23 for the Marathon.
