Welcome to the Studio |

At the shop Matt was shown numerous pages from a book with Muchas sketches of jewelry, utensils, and furniture. Then the giant over-sized poster of a pre-WWI cellists' concert was shown to us, and in amazing detail we looked at the way Mucha captures the subject surrounded by beautifully ornate frames. The collection at this shop is very special, and you must ask to see it. It must be handled carefully with white gloves given it's delicate journey all the way from the early 1900's. This is a gem on Front Street, and simply can not be missed.

Before working on the glass door, Matt created this gorgeous piece of work, again based on Mucha, on an onyx lamp. He started on the top piece of the lamp using a lazy susan on this art table. He wanted to compliment the lines, and shadows present in the onyx. The light glows on the bottom part of the lamp to highlight the background this young lady finds herself in. Ivy sprawls up the sides of this unique, ornate lamp adding even more detail to the flowers, stars, and atmosphere in this portrait. This may turn into a series of lamps, and there is a sink to work on yet.
