Felix in Motion 52" x 72" |
Allyson Felix embodies all the elements of a great athlete. Her strong personality, determination, and gracefulness has put her in the spotlight of Track and Field for the last decade. She started running as a freshman and by the time she was a senior she had 5 California state titles and, a World Youth 100 meter gold medal. At just 18 she won her first Olympic Gold medal in the 200 meters, establishing a world junior record at 22.18. Alysons athletic abilities varry from 60 meters to 400 meters. Her personal records include 100 meters in 10.93, 200 meters in 21.81, and the 400 meters in 49.59. In addition, USA Today reported that Allyson at 18 had leg-pressed 700 pounds and dead-lifted 245 pounds.

Gebrselassie 44" x 72" |
In this painting, I wanted to combine different elements of track and field. In the background is serious focused Felix looking down the starting lane with determination. In the middle of the painting Allyson is in full motion, driving her right knee and arms to explode off the grounds. To the left is Felix after her event, relaxed and enjoying the moment. I added patterns and colors to the backgrounds to add more movement. I left the background dark to add more drama to the painting.
This painting is part of a series of world class athletes and coaches that I have done over the last few years. Other paintings:
