Dr. Alex Moulton 1920 - 2012 R.I.P
Dr. Alex Moulton is a unique figure in cycling history. Since the 1960's he has been driven to constantly redesign the bicycle. In this piece I combined three main images to tell a small part of the story of Alex Moulton. In the background is an older Alex working diligently in his studio, possibly going over sketches, notes, and ideas. Moulton is a big believer that ideas should start with raw sketches and that reviews of the process should be done throughout the creative process. The white shelled bicycle to the right is an image of cyclist Jim Glover setting a world record on a Moulton. In the foreground is a combination of two images. The first, is younger Alex Moulton from the mid 60's. The second, is a New Series Double Pylon Moulton, the latest and sleekest of his Moulton Bikes. You get to see how Moulton goes from sketch to concept.
